Most of the cost is cooked turkey breast, diced ($5.52) and frozen puff pastry shells ($4.47). With oil, spices and staples already at home, the shop drops to about $12.08. Prices are estimated for the amount used, at average US grocery prices (November 2026).

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and place the frozen puff pastry shells on an ungreased rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Bake the pastry shells at 425°F (220°C) until puffed and deep golden brown, 18 to 20 minutes.
  3. While the shells bake, melt the unsalted butter in a deep skillet over medium heat, then add the diced green bell pepper and sliced cremini mushrooms, cooking until softened and their liquid has evaporated, 5 to 6 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the vegetables and stir constantly for 1 minute until bubbly. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and heavy cream until smooth, then simmer over medium-low heat until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon, 3 to 4 minutes.
  5. Stir in the diced cooked turkey breast, diced pimientos, kosher salt, and black pepper. Simmer gently until the turkey is heated through to at least 165°F (74°C), 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Remove the top caps from the warm pastry shells with a fork, ladle the creamy turkey mixture into and over each shell, and serve immediately.
