Steps
- Open the split Cuban bread or French rolls and spread the yellow mustard evenly across both the top and bottom cut sides of each roll.
- Layer the bottom halves evenly with the roast pork, deli ham, Swiss cheese slices, and dill pickle slices, then close each sandwich with the top bread half.
- Spread the softened unsalted butter evenly over the outer crusts (both the top and bottom exterior surfaces) of all four assembled sandwiches.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place sandwiches in the skillet in batches if necessary, lay a sheet of parchment paper or foil on top, and press down firmly using a heavy skillet or weight.
- Cook under the weight for 3 to 4 minutes over medium heat until the bottom is crisp and golden brown. Carefully flip, replace the weight, and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until the second side is golden brown, the meats are steaming hot, and the cheese is fully melted.
- Transfer the sandwiches to a cutting board and let them rest for 1 minute so the cheese sets slightly and does not run out when cut.
- Cut each sandwich diagonally in half with a serrated knife and serve hot.
