Steps
- Wrap the firm tofu in paper towels or a clean kitchen towel, place a heavy pan on top, and press for 15 minutes to extract excess moisture, then slice into 1-inch cubes.
- Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. In a small bowl, whisk together the tamari, rice vinegar, minced garlic and grated ginger to make the sauce.
- In a mixing bowl, toss the cubed tofu with half of the vegetable oil, then sprinkle with cornstarch until evenly coated. In a separate bowl, toss the broccoli florets with the remaining vegetable oil.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket and air-fry for 10 minutes until the edges start turning crisp.
- Add the broccoli florets to the basket with the tofu, shake the basket, and air-fry at 400°F (200°C) for 6 to 8 minutes more until the tofu is deep golden and crisp and the broccoli is tender with charred edges.
- Transfer the cooked tofu and broccoli to a large bowl, pour the prepared tamari sauce over top, and toss gently until thoroughly coated.
- Divide into four portions and serve immediately, over cooked rice or topped with sliced scallions if you like.
